Membranes are not only found in cells, but also in mitochondria — the “power plants” of the cell.
In addition, the production of energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate molecules (ATP) in the mitochondria occurs only on the inner membranes. Therefore, their condition is crucial for the energy supply of the cell. After all, constantly active chemical and electrical processes on the inner membranes of the mitochondria inevitably damage them.
