Babix Inhalation N

Plant-based protection: Ideal for the youngest

Inhalant for infants, children and adults
Babix-Inhalat N is a range of evaporative inhalation drops used to treat respiratory diseases associated with thick mucus. This medicine was specifically developed for infants but can also be used in children and adults.

Babix-Inhalat N is a combination of two essential oils:
Eucalyptus oil has anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic and strong expectorant effects and can thus facilitate the coughing up of bronchial mucus.

Pine needle oil has an expectorant effect, promotes the expectoration of secretions and has an antispasmodic effect in the bronchial area.

Application:
Apply 2-4 drops of Babix Inhalation N to a piece of clothing near the nose (for infants, for example, a bib, scarf, pajama collar, or cuddly toy). Repeat every 3-4 hours if necessary.

The essential oils evaporate, are inhaled and enter the organism through the mucous membranes.

  • Dosage:
Always take this medicine exactly as directed. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
  • Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the medicine should be used as follows:

Adults and young people aged 12 and over:
Inhalation with hot water: Pour 7 drops of hot water over the herb 3-4 times daily and inhale the vapors.

    Children aged 6 - 11 years:
Inhalation with hot water: Pour 4 drops of hot water over the herb 3-4 times daily and inhale the vapors.

    Children aged 2 - 5 years:
Inhalation by applying drops to clothing: Apply 4 drops to clothing near the respiratory system 3-5 times daily.

Infants and children up to 2 years:
Inhalation by applying drops to clothing: Apply 1-3 drops of the essential oil mixture 3-5 times daily in the surrounding area (e.g. bed linen) and away from the respiratory system.

Duration of use:
The medicine can be used until symptoms subside. If your symptoms worsen or if there is no improvement after 7 days, you should definitely consult a doctor.
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you feel that the effect of the product is too strong or too weak.

If you have taken more than you should,

the side effects listed below may occur more frequently. In this case, please notify a doctor. They can decide on any necessary measures.

If you forget to take it,
Do not use double the dose next time, but continue taking it as directed by your doctor.

If you interrupt or stop taking it early
this is harmless.

Recommendation
Indications: to relieve symptoms of colds of the respiratory tract with thick mucus.

Patient information
Special care is required when using this medicine:

If symptoms worsen or if there is no improvement after 7 days, consult a doctor.
In children:
Do not allow children to inhale unattended, as there is a risk of scalding. For infants and small children under 2 years of age, do not apply the product near the respiratory tract; apply it to clothing or bedding.

Ability to drive and operate machinery:
No special precautions are required.

Interactions

When taking the preparation with other medicines:
There are no studies on the risk of interactions with this drug. Eucalyptus oil activates the enzyme that breaks down foreign substances in the liver. The effects of other drugs may therefore be weakened and/or shortened.
Before treatment with this product, you should consult a doctor if you are already taking other medications, as interactions are possible.

Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone who takes it will experience them.

The following frequency information is used to assess side effects:

- Very common: more than 1 in 10 patients treated
- Common: less than 1 in 10, but more than 1 in 100 treated patients
- Uncommon: less than 1 in 100, but more than 1 in 1000 treated patients
- Rare: less than 1 in 1,000, but more than 1 in 10,000 treated patients
- Very rare: less than 1 in 10,000 treated patients, or unknown

Rarely, contact dermatitis, allergic reactions, and coughing may occur. Increased irritation of the skin and mucous membranes may occur. Respiratory muscle spasms (bronchospasms) may be exacerbated.

Hypersensitivity reactions such as rapid heartbeat (tachycardia), reduced respiratory drive (respiratory depression) and a tendency to seizures have been reported rarely, particularly in infants and young children.

In rare cases, inhalation of concentrated vapors of essential oils leads to respiratory arrest in infants and young children, presumably as a result of spasms of the glottis.

A notice:
If used improperly (swallowed), nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may occur.

Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if any of the side effects listed affect you seriously or if you notice any side effects not listed.

Areas of application

Breastfeeding

  • Due to insufficient studies, this drug should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It should be noted that use in women of childbearing age who are not using contraception must also be carefully considered due to the risk of early pregnancy.
