What is special about S-acetylglutathione?

S-Acetylglutathione is the first stable form of glutathione. This means it withstands stomach acid and thus reaches the cells.

Why is this important?

Normally, the body produces glutathione, a sulfur-containing tripeptide, from the amino acids glutamic acid, glycine, and cysteine. To quickly and easily obtain additional glutathione without burdening the body with its production, it can be ingested directly through food or as a dietary supplement. However, a large portion is lost to stomach acid and enzymes as it passes through the digestive tract.

What does the body need glutathione for?
